Inspiration for our thriller

Alfred Hitchcocks Psycho influenced the killing in our thriller. The stabbing in this we used to base in our thriller. We asked our actor to dress in a dark cloak and to lurk in the darkness, creating an obscured identity. We thought that when our victum died, she would die with her eyes open. This creates an eerie atmosphere and almost makes it seem as though she was the only witness, and now she is dead no one will ever know. It also takes away the sence of peaceful ness and calm that dead bodies usually have.

The shadow on the wall adds a sence of super naturalism and takes away the sence of realism. It makes the character seem much bigger as his shadow is much bigger than his victum. It also makes them seem negative and as if they lurk in the shadows.

The hallway scene from Nosferatu also caught our attention. The shadows connote that you cannot hide from him as he is everywhere. We used this in our thriller as the girl ends up getting cornered and murdered, just as she thinks she is safe.

Props for our thriller...

The props we are going to need for our thriller are:

Victorian dress- we will get this from the props section in the drama department.

Cape- Drama department.

Top Hat- We will get this once again from the drama section.

knife- we will get this from the props section in the drama department.

These props suit our thriller as they are well suited to a victorian eera. This would please our target audience as it makes the theme clear and realistic.

Who would watch our thriller?

1. Our thriller is based around a historical event.. This therefore immediatly sets us an audience as there is a wide range of people who find this theme interesting. This audience would probably be middle aged.
2. Our thriller is also a period drama, such as downton abbey. People like period dramas as they enjoy the idea of the costumes and different dialects, giving you a better insight into what it was like back then.
3. Our thriller is also a murder mystery. This again draws a different kind of audience as different people may enjoy trying to figure out who it was who killed a character and what reason they had for it.
4. The classic thriller theme of killing will attract even more people, for instance those who love action and violence.

Films that are similar to our own thriller are some such as 'From hell' 'Jacks back' and 'St Austria' and 'The third man'
