Diagetic and non diagetic music we will use

Beginning plan of sounds...

At the beginning of our scene i think we will just use the diagetic sounds of footsteps walking down a corridor. These will then be joined with a second pair of footsteps. To create a sense of being followed we will increase the speed of the first steps, and as this happens the second footsteps will quicken. Some eerie synthetic music could then be added to create a sense of unease, reflecting the victums state of mind. The following diagetic and non diagetic music options are typical for this kind of thriller;

Diagetic sounds
  • Footsteps
  • Heavy breathing
  • Gate closing
  • Screaming
  • Sound of a knife being drawn

Non diegtic sounds

  •  Eerie syntheic music
  • Same music this picks up tempo
  • Some fast rhythm added, matching her heartbeat

History's Mysteries - Jack The Ripper

To fully understand the background of jack the ripper, and maybe get some additional details to our story line i watched this documentry. I now have a broader understanding as to what kind of scenery he would kill his victums in and how vast his victum list spread.

Basic plot to our new thriller..

Our new thriller idea is going to be set in the victorian times, and it is going to be based on a women who holds some sort of information and is running for her life. This thriller will be based on inspiration from Jack the Ripper. The thriller will start with the innocent women, hiding and frequently running from the murderer, we will see her hide in several different places, including an archway, a shelter and a tunnel. There will be shots cutting to the murderer and we will be able to see the anger and lust to get his hands onto this women. There will then be a shot of the women hiding next to the tunnel and the murderer slowly edging round the side and eventually stabbing her to death, but before this we will see a closeup of the girls hand as she drops a piece of paper into a drain, this piece of paper will be a vital piece of information, and will be the reason why the murderer is following her.. We will then have the title sequence, which will fade into the modern day and we will see detectives dressed in chique blck suits, investigating the scene and taking notes on what they can see and how they think it was caused. The Thriller will end off with one of the inspectors, putting his hand into the drain and slowly pulling out this piece of paper.

    Cast - The victum

Chessie Hoare - We chose chessie as she has a slim build and is reltivly pale. Her skin tone is typically victorian as it was considered beautiful to be pale back then, and her build is important, as because she is playing a prostitute she would be working class, so therefore wouldn't have much money to be able to feed herself with. Her hair is also blonde which makes her recognisable and stands out to the audience watching, so as not to loose her. Blonde victims are also typical in this type of thriller.

    Story board for our thriller

This is the story board for our thriller. We are doing a Jack the ripper style thriller. To convey this we are having a girl who notices someone is following her,

He then starts running and he chases her. The backgrounds we have used are typically victorian, i.e. the houses and the courtyard (minus the car)

In this shot you can see it getting darker, creating a sense of panic and suspence. The lampost in the shot looks typically victorian due to the shape.
Here, the girl thinks that she has lost the killer. therefore she relaxes slightly, a low angle shot used on her as she thinks she has escaped. The victorian style lampost in the background.
She tries to seek shelter in a gate/cage. This shot is in a typical jack the ripper style scene, as most of the killings happened under arch ways and the gate and surroundings look quite victorian.
In the final scene she is caught as he was hiding underneath the gate, he then kills her
